A caricaturist, genre painter, and professor of fine arts, Hoffmann lived from 1883 to 1926. He produced about ten drawings on the theme of justice. The one we are presenting is the counterpart to another caricature featuring the same characters but entitled “Scandal in the Courtroom.” These lithographs were not widely circulated.
