(Dupin No. 1496). A fundamental work of French commercial law, this commentary on Colbert's ordinance on commerce by Jousse reflects the 18th-century attempts to adapt rules established a century earlier, rules which contemporary authors already agreed were among the least successful of the Colbertian codifications. The supplementary study focuses on the "épices," that is, the salaries or fees received by judges and court officials.
