    While Soulatges is best known as one of the last Toulouse-based legal theorists (Observations sur les questions notables du droit, Toulouse 1784), it is in the field of mortgages and seizures that his work is most renowned. Originally published under the title Traité des saisies, the universal style is a complete revision of the previous edition. Unlike other contemporary treatises, Soulatges addresses seizures of both movable and immovable property.
