Papon's collection of judgments is one of the best known, if not the best known. This is due to its age and especially to the fact that it was essentially a digest, Papon having synthesized the treatises of Le Maistre, Le Coq, Imbert, Boyer, and Guidon Pape. Naturally, this work, based on judgments to which the author had not had direct access, suffered from a number of inaccuracies. This led Coquille, for example, to say that he had not consulted Papon, because in some points Papon reported the facts accurately, but in others he was completely wrong. At the beginning of the 17th century, more scholarly editions of Papon's collections began to appear, modified and augmented with recent judgments. This edition is a good example of this trend. The example we are presenting has undoubtedly been used a lot but it remains in very acceptable condition, particularly with regard to its interior.
