Alongside classic and academic texts, the Decisiones constitute the most famous and widely circulated collection, quite rightly, of this Dauphiné native's work. “The work was written over time, in a roughly chronological order that does not preclude the juxtaposition of related topics, but it was carefully revised, as evidenced by the numerous internal cross-references. Gui Pape borrowed little from earlier or contemporary jurists, even though he cites a good number of them (a significant borrowing from Guillaume du Breuil on dueling has been noted). The decisions offer a reflection of concrete legal life in the Dauphiné region and a wealth of historical information. The Decisiones circulated initially in manuscript form, then were printed as early as 1475 or 1490; 42 editions followed until 1667, which spread throughout Europe.” (G. Giordanengo, Dictionnaire historique des juristes français, PUF, 2007). Dupin (ref. 1377 and 1378 for Chorier's French translation) places this edition among those (along with Lyon 1613 and 1618 and Geneva 1667) that should be retained, particularly for their commentaries by Ferrière.
