Augmented from the edition by Messrs. Pierre Neron and Étienne Girard, with a very large number of Ordinances and a quantity of Notes, Lectures, and Commentaries - Volume One ending with Louis XIII (December 1641). Inserted at the end (p. 924) is an edict of Louis XV concerning the benefices held by the Religious of several communities (Paris, November 1719), the publication of which occurred after the completion of the printing of Volume II (see marginal note).

    (Dupin no. 1028). Here we have Volume One of the exceptional edition by Claude-Joseph de Ferrière and Eusèbe de Laurière of this collection of ordinances, which first appeared in 1610. Compared to earlier editions, this one has been completely revised. The most important ordinances and edicts are accompanied by commentaries from leading authors; thus, the famous “Edict of Small Dates” of 1550 is followed by the complete edition of Dumoulin’s commentary, the Edict of Public Auctions of 1551 by Gilles le Maistre’s commentary, the Edict of Moulins of 1566 by the important commentary of Charondas, and the 1579 ordinance of Henry III on the complaints of the Estates of the Kingdom includes the commentaries of Duret and Coquille. Our first volume includes a “Table (chronological) of all the Ordinances etc. contained in this volume” (1 p.) as well as a “Table of contents of the Ordinances, Edicts, Declarations and Decrees, contained in this first volume: And of the various Notes which are spread therein” (201 p.) and can therefore be considered complete for the period from 1332 to 1641, i.e. from Philip VI to Louis XIII.
