The foreword to the present edition explains in a few words the tone of this text: “This author recognized that it was more useful [...] to give a prompt and succinct resolution [...]. This singular style in which he wrote should not be so unusual, since the Decisions of the Court, being nothing other than maxims, must imitate the Laws, whose style must be positive and concise.” Last edition, 18th century.
