This exceptional text is based on lectures given by R. Savatier at McGill University in Montreal during World War II. The author addresses the evolution of contemporary private law and how it is influenced by techniques and concepts from public law. Among the topics covered (evolution of property law, evolution of family law, contract law, and planned economies), the articles on tort law, the relationship between fault and liability, and the relationship between insurance and liability, deserve special mention. These latter articles expand upon and develop an article published in the Dalloz collection in 1931 (see p. 9) and constitute a decisive contribution in these fields.
