A lawyer at the Parliament of Paris, he was best known for his commentary on the custom of Touraine (1761). It must be acknowledged that his other works met with only modest success. However, under this general title, the present treatise consists of an analysis of feudal law, with the author focusing on the law of fiefs, a subject in which he is particularly insightful. This comprehensive work includes all the supporting documents from 1287 to the date of publication.
