First published in 1721 (Dupin indicates the date as 1729), this work constitutes the initial form of Ferrières' dictionary of law and practice, which enjoyed immense success throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and was constantly reprinted. It is one of the very first legal works presented in the form of an alphabetical index, in the spirit of the Enlightenment encyclopedists.
