    Publication of the Principles of Commercial Law resumed after the Second World War under the title Theoretical and Practical Treatise. The new editorial approach divided the various institutions of commercial law into independent volumes (see J. Escarra's Foreword). This is the complete set of the six published volumes of this major treatise, which, for the period prior to the 1966 reform of company law, constitutes the masterful synthesis of the state of the law. This third edition of the treatise on commercial companies is dominated by the work of Jean Rault, who is considered the principal author on all matters relating to companies. It is also worth noting the inclusion of a lengthy obituary for Jean Escarra.
