THE LAWS OF CIVIL PROCEDURE, a work in which the author has revised his reasoned analysis, his treatise, and his questions on procedure, 3rd ed., 4th printing, in which the following have been examined and discussed: 1° the opinions of Mr. Carré; 2° all the decisions rendered from 1821 to 1843; 3° the questions raised by Mr. Boncenne, Thomine Desmazures, Dalloz, Boitard, etc., by Ch. A., with in vol. 7 the Summary Dictionary of Civil Procedure, or Analytical Table of Contents contained in the 3rd ed. of Carré's Laws of Civil Procedure by Adolphe Chauveau

8 t. in 7 vol. in-8, half dark green calfskin, smooth spines decorated with friezes and gilt fillets, (covers and spines rubbed, edges and corners worn on 3 t., ink stains affecting only the lower edge on 3 vol., large ink stain and damp stain on the edges of t. 5, affecting the text only very slightly, some foxing).
It is known that Carré produced his most important texts on civil procedure at the beginning of the 19th century—on par with Pigeau—which led F. Laferrière to classify him among the "glories of the country" (Histoire du droit français, Vol. 2, p. 403). He appointed Chauveau as his successor, and the latter published this major 8-volume edition in 1832 and again in 1853, which went through several printings. The success of this text led to its reprinting for a very long time (see cat. no. 4-052, a copy from the 5th edition of 1880).
