    Third authorized edition (fourth if we include the pirated edition published in Geneva in 1577) of this major text, first published in 1576. The first edition was extensively modified and expanded in the second edition of 1577, which itself underwent further revisions leading to this third edition presented here (see Crahay, Bibliographique critique des éditions anciennes de Jean Bodin). However, it is of particular interest because it predates the sixth edition of 1579, which, along with the Latin edition of 1586, generally serves as the basis for contemporary reprints. A copy in fine condition of this monumental work of political theory.
