I: reused parchment, handwritten title, engraved frontispiece on the title page printed in red and black showing the facade of a classical temple with the printer's flaming salamander in the center, engraving by the author of a quarter page on folio 2, magnificent initial letters throughout the work, printed in 2 columns, (parchment losses on the spine and on the second cover, some dampstaining and foxing); vol. II: decorated with the same engravings on the title page and on folio 2, with in addition superb drawings and sketches on 9 leaves in the treatise on alluvium and islands, (unbound, missing folios 7 to 41 and the end from folio 211, small tears on the first 3 leaves, small worm damage on about 15 leaves), 200 leaves / 176 leaves (incomplete).
    A magnificent collection of works by Bartolus. It contains Bartolus's studies devoted to the Digest (the infortiatum refers to the second part of the Digest) and is complemented by collections of the author's treatises, including his most fundamental texts: his treatise on alluvial deposits, his treatise on islands, his treatise on the Guelphs and Ghibellines, on prisons, and on wills. It is known that it is particularly in his treatises on islands, alluvial deposits, and on Tiberias that he develops the theories of private international law that are still cited today. This edition appears to have been preceded by another in 1544 (see Berkeley KBD42. B391) and to have been reprinted in 1550 (see Austrian National Library ACO 341 4559).
