    Quarto, full contemporary ivory vellum, spine with raised bands decorated with small gilt tools on the bands, between the bands framed by a double gilt fillet and bearing the gilt initials of the binder, gilt title on a brown morocco title page, boards framed by a double gilt fillet, boards decorated with the arms bearing the inscription NON EST MORTALE QUOD OPTO. Magnificent binding with the arms of M. Petau in very fine condition, the only flaws being two tiny tears at the joint and the lower corner of the back board, and some very light foxing; the interior contains some old marginal notes on 2 leaves, the first 6 leaves are slightly worn at the lower corners as well as the first leaf of the second part, 3 small tears on the last leaves without affecting the text and some very light foxing in the margins. Magnificent copy despite the defects indicated, 4 f.-446 - 4 f.-471 p.
