Bibliography compiled by Rector Serge Guinchard. 1) Paul Cuche published a “Manual of Civil and Commercial Procedure” (837 pages) with Albert Fontemoing, 4 rue Le Goff, Paris, in 1909. The foreword is dated May 1, 1909. 2) In 1911, Dalloz published a “Short Treatise on Civil and Commercial Procedure” (dated 1909-1911), 837 pages long, plus an addendum incorporated into the work (pages 839 to 844); however, Paul Cuche's foreword is careful to specify “that this is only an update [in the form of the addendum] of a work published in 1909.” In fact, the 1909-1911 text is virtually identical to that of 1909; the only difference is the addendum! Therefore, the two editions of 1909 and 1909-1911 can be considered as one. 2) 2nd edition. Date unknown to me. If you have this edition, please set it aside for me! 3) 1926: 3rd edition, 600 pages, the work having become “Précis de procédure civile et commerciale” (A Concise Treatise on Civil and Commercial Procedure). With a 4-page addendum incorporated into the work. 4) 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th editions: not in my possession. 5) 1939: 8th edition, 617 pp., with an added 10-page supplement updating the work to September 15, 1942. 6) In 1946, the 9th edition was published under the names of Paul Cuche and Jean Vincent, but the foreword, signed by Jean Vincent (September 1, 1946), informs us that Cuche had died in the interim (without giving a date). It comprises 656 pages with a 14-page added section. 7) 1951: 10th edition, 590 pp., with a separate 17-page addendum, updated to September 1, 1954. 8) 1958: 11th edition, 592 pp. 9) 1960: 12th ed., 678 pp., with a separate addendum updating the text to January 1, 1961 (31 pages). 10) 1963: 13th ed., 719 pp. The book is simply titled “Civil Procedure” (without the "Commercial"). A separate addendum (93 pages) updated to October 1, 1966. 11) 1970: 14th ed., 848 pp., with an addendum incorporated into the text (pp. 849-880) updating the work to September 1, 1970. 12) 1971: 15th edition under the sole name of Jean Vincent (with a warning curiously dated October 2, 1968, to explain why only his name appears). 13) 1973: 16th ed., 985 pp. 14) 1974: 17th ed., 1080 pp., plus an addendum incorporated into the work updating it to September 1, 1974 (pp. 1-8). 15) 1976: 18th ed., 1136 pp. 16) 1978: 19th ed., 1140 pp. 17) 1981 (Jan.): 20th ed., 1269 pp. Entry by Serge Guinchard. 18) 1987: 21st ed., 1132 pp. 19) 1991: 22nd ed., 913 pp. 20) 1994: 23rd ed., 1018 pp. This edition marks a turning point, as it is completely revised, with a structure based on the three terms of the republican motto and a grounding of the work and the sources of civil procedure in fundamental rights. 21) 1996: 24th ed., 1046 pp. Still under both names, but edited solely by Serge Guinchard, as Jean Vincent had passed away in March 1996. 21) 1999: 25th ed., 1166 pp. Same remark. 22) 2001: 26th ed., 1154 pp. Same remark. 23) 2003: 27th ed., 1234 pp. Same remark. 24) 2006: 28th ed., 1449 p. Under the names of Serge Guinchard and Frédérique Ferrand.
