We should particularly highlight a few phrases that demonstrate the scope of the discussion: “Lex regia est filia consuetudinis; princeps potest abrogare consuetudines…” It is worth noting that part of this treatise constitutes a gloss on Louis XII's ordinance of 1499 concerning the reform of justice and the authority of customs.
